Sheila Darley – Senior LAR Therapist – MBACP

Since 1997 this evidence based psycho-educational programme has helped over 340,000 people to find recovery, peace and fulfilment.

The psycho-educational approach to recovery addresses the core disorder directly whereas other approaches address thoughts. Thoughts do not create emotional responses. Psycho-education retrains the mind to switch off anxiety and respond normally.

“As an LAR therapist I am now able to offer true, life-long recovery to my patients. What we achieve here is far in excess of what we have ever witnessed in other treatments. We help people to recover who were told they had no hope of ever leading a normal life. I love my work.” Sheila Darley. MBACP. LAR

Fear is appropriate and necessary – Anxiety is never appropriate and is always unnecessary.

Many sufferers are told that anxiety is a necessary human emotion – Anxiety is, in fact, a disorder – creating ‘order’ means returning to normal fear responses. Fear is a necessary human emotion and LAR therapy scientifically restore normal emotional responses.

It is estimated that approximately 1/4 of the world population will suffer from an anxiety related condition within a 12 month period. These are the people who seek medical help; many more suffer in silence.

Anxiety disorders are not long-term conditions provided they are treated appropriately.

Most treatments focus on subduing symptoms or addressing and analysing life events in order to assign blame, however, sufferers find that these approaches do not bring about recovery.

Recovery from symptoms and thoughts

LAR Therapy provides day one access to simple to implement psycho-educational programmes of recovery producing *100% efficacy in complete removal of the inappropriate portion of the fear response responsible for perpetuating anxiety disorders. The cause lies elsewhere and is corrected by LAR Therapy as recovery happens.

Defining recovery: For clarity, we are referring to complete correction of the disorder, not superficial management of its features (symptoms).

The initial stage of recovery, using LAR, removes the ‘what if’, catastrophic thoughts, phobias, inappropriate thoughts, obsessions and the responses to those symptoms. In humans, this happens very quickly indeed and is akin to drinking to satisfy thirst, in that it is a preset neurological response; in other words, it is autonomic and inevitable. In fact, recovery is inevitable if you just do what the mind is waiting for and has been since activation of the very first fear response experienced as the disorder formed.

*NHS specified testing results. Average outcome total recovery.

Removal of the predisposition to Suffering

In addition to removal of the current anxiety state, LAR removes the predisposition responsible for the formation and perpetuation of an anxiety disorder. Predisposition means the sufferers ‘ability to suffer’. Not all people can suffer from an anxiety disorder. The genetic preset responsible for anxiety disorder predisposes the sufferer to suffering, whilst those without the genetic preset cannot. This is why two people who experience the same traumas whilst at war, for example, can return home in entirely different mental states; one suffering from PTSD, the other not. One has the genetic predisposition.

Recovered patients, not only, become anxiety disorder free but also correct genetic predisposition to suffering by adjusting their autonomic response to fear catalysts.

In a nutshell; patients become anxiety free and create future proof resistance to recurrence of their conditions.
